Brag vests are a great way to display all those patches and pins Scouts earn from learning skills or attending events, that don’t have a permanent spot on the Class A uniform.
Scouts can wear a temporary patch from an event on their left pocket, but these patches should not be permanently attached to the Class A uniform.
Patches can go on the brag vest in any order and design you like. There is no right way to do it! Most Scouts put the round Rainbow patch (available at the Trading Post) on the back center and add the small patch segments around in concentric circles. We also have a Marin County Hiking circle patch that Scouts can add “rockers” to when they complete Pack hikes for six different areas.
The Trading Post sells felt vests, but most our Scouts either get a red fleece vest from a store like Lands End or a cotton twill vest (this seller on Etsy makes them:eSTUDIO60. She will do a group discount if you want to organize.). We recommend a washable fleece or twill for obvious reasons!
Patches can also go on blankets, sweatshirts or in shadow boxes, but hopefully not in a box or drawer.
